 Voters from the Springville Community School District will vote June 25, 2013, on a public measure seeking approval to continue to levy a voter approved physical plant and equipment property tax. Two school board director seats that were vacated and filled by appointment will also be on the ballot. Absentee ballots for this special election are available now at Linn County Election Services in the Linn County Public Service Center, 935 2nd St SW, Cedar Rapids.

| Linn County Public Health and City of Cedar Rapids Partner to Keep Children Safe from Lead-based Paint

 A partnership between Linn County Public Health (LCPH) and the City of Cedar Rapids resulted in a $2.5 million federal grant from the Housing and Urban Development (HUD) to protect children and families from the hazards of lead-based paint and from other home health and safety hazards.

| Linn County Selected as One of 14 Counties Nationally for Funding to Enhance the Well-Being of Area Youth

 Linn County and the City of Cedar Rapids are among 14 cities and counties throughout the United States selected to receive funding from the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation to participate in the Community Coalition Leadership Program. The program will provide leadership training to a local community leadership team whose goal is to improve the health and well-being of youth in the Cedar Rapids area.

 Linn County and Linn County Public Health officials remind the public to stay away from flood waters, including, but not limited to streams, rivers, dams, sewers and any contaminated water source. Flood waters are dangerous and pose an increased risk of accidents due to swift moving water, strong currents, and rapidly moving debris.
