QUESTION I got fired because I had a seizure on the job. Isn’t that against the law?
|
ANSWER The Americans with Disabilities Act prohibits discrimination against people with disabilities if you can perform the “essential functions” of a job with “reasonable accommodation” by the employer. Whether or not having a seizure means you cannot perform the “essential functions” of a job would require more details and a more thorough review of the situation. Call the Civil Rights department at Cedar Rapids City Hall for a more thorough review at 319-286-5036.
