PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE
PUBLIC COMMENT This comment period is for the public to address topics on today’s agenda. Public hearing to determine if Linn County will vacate whatever interest Linn County may have in Hindman Road located north of County Home Road. Discuss and decide on the issuance of “Notice of Award” of construction contract for the Juvenile Law Center & Courthouse. Second Consideration on rezoning case R-03-10, to rezone property located at 4401 Linn-Benton Road, Fairfax, Iowa, from RR1 Rural Residential to AG Agricultural, Craig Van Weelden, property owner. Discuss and decide on Assistant Healthy Behaviors Branch Manager position with Linn County Health Approve Resolution rescinding the following warrant as it was not received and is presumed lost: #70494739 payable to Elaine Sokolowski for personal allowance in the amount of $93.00. APPROVE CLAIMS
PUBLIC COMMENT This is an opportunity for the public to address the Board on any subject pertaining to Board business.

| LINN COUNTY BOARD OF SUPERVISORS CEDAR RAPIDS, LINN COUNTY, IOWA WEDNESDAY, JUNE 2, 2010 10:00 A.M.
The Board met in session at Linn County West. Present: Vice Chairperson Rogers, Supervisors Houser & Oleson. Absent: Chairperson Langston & Supervisor Barron (other county business). Board members voting “AYE” unless otherwise noted.
The Pledge of Allegiance was led by Vice Chairperson Rogers.
A public hearing was called to order to determine if Linn County will vacate whatever interest Linn County may have in Hindman Road located north of County Home Road. Proof of publication was presented.
Steve Gannon, County Engineer, stated that he had received requires in March from area property owners to vacate this Class “B” Rd. They were given the option of a Class “C” Rd. as well.
There were no oral or written objections.
Motion by Houser, seconded by Oleson to close public hearing.
At this time the Board was to issue a “Notice of Award” for the construction contract for the Juvenile Law Center & Courthouse.
Vice Chairperson Rogers stated that there is an issue with funding and this Notice needs to be removed from the agenda.
The Board will discuss funding options on Friday as advised by Asst. County Attorney, Gary Jarvis.
Motion by Houser, seconded by Oleson to remove from the agenda the decision on the issuance of “Notice of Award” of construction contract for the Juvenile Law Center & Courthouse.
Discussion: Supervisor Oleson stated that the alternates will make a difference to him with regard to how he will be voting. Gary Jarvis stated that if the Board would choose to proceed under the essential public purpose bonds, there is a publication notice requirement.
Vote: All Ayes
Motion by Houser, seconded by Oleson to approve upon second consideration rezoning case R-03-10, request by Craig VanWeelden to rezone property located at 4401 Linn-Benton Road, Fairfax, Iowa, from RR1 Rural Residential to AG Agricultural.
Motion by Houser, seconded by Oleson to approve the position of Assistant Healthy Behaviors Branch Manager with Linn County Public Health (funded by grant).
Motion by Houser, seconded by Oleson to remove Resolution rescinding warrant as it was not received and is presumed lost: #70494739 payable to Elaine Sokolowski for personal allowance in the amount of $93.00.
Motion by Houser, seconded by Oleson to approve claims as follows: #70494824-#70495413 in the amt. of $5,024,825.71 and ACH payments in the amt. of 6,701.13.
The Board recessed at Recess at 10:10 a.m. and reconvened at 1:30 p.m. All Board members were present.
The Board conducted a performance appraisal of John Brandt, LCCS Dir.
Brandt explained his major job accomplishments which include support for LCCS direct service programs; involvement/leadership in community collaborative; county and national involvement; and conference/training attendance. His goals were also reviewed.

Tyne presented a list of his accomplishments which include Honor Flights for WWII Vets, Food Pantry, Stand Down, Sleep Out, community and organization involvement, budget and management training. His goals were also reviewed. The Board adjourned at 2:30 p.m.
