Sheriff's Office - Sheriff Brian D. Gardner
MISSION: To protect the lives and property of the citizens of this county by providing the best, most professional law enforcement attainable.

The Linn County Sheriff's Office is the second largest sheriff's office in Iowa. Our main responsibilities include law enforcement, civil processing, and to maintain a correctional facility. The Correctional Center had an average daily population of 303 and booked in 12,319 prisoners in fiscal year 2009/2010 however this number is low due to the jail being offline part of that year because of the flood. The jails daily population average is currently 363 prisoners.

The Communications Center dispatches additional police agencies, fire departments, and ambulance services. Over 51,415 calls for service were dispatched in fiscal year 2009/2010.
