Learn the basics of fishing and try out gear at this event.
Co-sponsored by North Linn Fish and Game Club and
Linn County Conservation, this youth fishing clinic will
give you the basics to pursue this fun, family activity.
Located near the boat rental area in Pinicon Ridge
Park, Central City. All youth participants receive prizes
for participating. No cost and no registration required.

Naturalist Gail Barels and Cedar Rapids Audubon
birder Jim Durbin will lead this leisurely, dawn hike
along the trails at Wickiup Hill. Discoveries could
include nesting birds, ducks or geese in the wetlands
or a unique bird at the feeders. All ages. Cost: $2.50/
adult, $1 for children 16 and under or $5 per family.

The “Club” is a time set aside for play at Wickiup Hill where you know other children will be here to play and socialize with. There is no formal program, but a Naturalist will bring around a critter or two to meet while you are here. You can play inside the Nature Center or outside at the Playscape. We have nearly an acre of outdoor unstructured play for children to enjoy! This program is FREE!

What makes a turtle different from a duck? Explore
the group of animals called vertebrates, comparing
birds, mammals, reptiles, amphibians and fish. Learn
about the categories of creatures using live animals
and many hands-on examples. The fun is located
in the pavilion near the duck pen. Cosponsored by
Cedar Rapids Park and Recreation Department, Iowa
DNR and Linn County Conservation. Bring a sack
lunch not needing refrigeration and a bottle of water.
Dress to wade in the stream. Ages 8-11. Cost $13.
