Presidential General Election: November 8, 2016

General Information

The Presidential General Election will be held on Tuesday, November 8, 2016.

Voters will need to use their General Election Poll Locations. Click here to view a listing of the General Election Poll Locations.

Find your General Election poll location at: www.linncountyelections.org/lookup.

Poll locations will be open from 7:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. on November 8th.

Satellite Information


A satellite station may be requested by filing a petition with the Election Services Department. The petition must contain signatures of at least 100 eligible electors living in the jurisdiction. The petition must be filed with the county auditor conducting the election by the filing deadlines listed in ┬ž53.11, which varies by election type.

The deadline to submit petitions for a satellite station is Thursday, September 22, 2016 by 5:00 p.m.

Pre-registration will end on Saturday, October 29, 2016 at 5:00 p.m.

Absentee Voting Information

The last day the Election Department may send out a ballot is Friday, November 4, 2016 at 5:00 p.m.

Ballots mailed back to our office must be postmarked by November 7, 2016 in order to have the ballot counted. Voters may request a postmark at the Post Office.

Early voting will begin on Thursday, September 29, 2016 and will run through Monday, November 7, 2016.

Office hours are 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday.
