September 13, 2016: Special Elections

The following jurisdictions will be holding special elections on September 13, 2016:

Central City
Mount Vernon School District
  • Voters of the school district will be asked to approve a bond issue. A super majority will be needed to approve the public measure (60% plus one).
  • Voting will take place at the Mount Vernon City Hall at 213 1st St NW in Mount Vernon from 7:00 am - 8:00 pm on Election Day.

Satellite Information

A satellite location will be held during the Mount Vernon varsity high school football game on Friday, September 9th at 221 1st Street NE in Mount Vernon from 3 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. 

This satellite will only have ballots for the Mount Vernon School District.

Voter Registration


Complete a voter registration form and mail to:

Pre-registration will end on Friday, September 2, 2016 by 5:00 p.m.

Absentee Voting Information

The last day the Election Department may send out a ballot is Friday, September 9, 2016 at 5:00 p.m.

Ballots mailed back to our office must be postmarked by Monday, September 12, 2016 in order to have the ballot counted. Voters may request a postmark at the Post Office.

Early voting will begin Thursday, August 25, 2016 (if ballots are available) and run through Monday, September 12, 2016 until 5:00 p.m.

Office hours are 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday.
