Intervention Program (LINK Intervention)

Detention Alternative LINK Program
The LINK Program is a predispositional detention alternative program designed to lower the minority numbers and misdemeanor holds within secure detention in Linn County. In cases when a law enforcement agency refers a youth to detention on a misdemeanor charge, this program allows the child to be released to the parental home in lieu of confinement.

How it Works
A designated LINK staff person meets with the youth/family within 24 hours following the initial referral call. An assessment is completed and depending upon their needs, the child/family may be "linked" with a myriad of resources, including but not limited to remedial services, a job, after-school programs, or a variety of other community resources. LINK staff provide mentoring, guidance, and assist in the development of a natural support system for the child and family.
