The National Association of Counties (NACo) Prescription Discount Card Program could help Linn County residents save an average of 24% off the full retail cost of prescription medications that are not covered under a traditional insurance plan. The discount cards, available free of charge to Linn County residents, are available online or at various healthcare locations throughout Linn County as well as the Jean Oxley Linn County Public Service Center and the Community Services Building. The program is offered through NACo in partnership with Caremark.
The discount cards can be used immediately at more than 60,000 participating pharmacies on prescriptions that are not covered by insurance. Participating pharmacies can be found online at NACo's website.
Since launching the program in 2006, more than 21,000 Linn County residents have used the discount card and saved more than $645,000 on prescription medications.
The card can also be used to purchase pet prescriptions from participating pharmacies.
How to Apply
There is no cost to Linn County or residents to participate in the program. There are no age or income requirements and no medical condition restrictions. Cardholders and their family members may use the card any time their prescriptions are not covered by insurance. The NACo Prescription Discount Card Program provides savings by passing along the Caremark negotiated discount rates to individuals with little or no prescription benefit coverage.
The NACo Prescription Discount Card Program is not insurance. For more information, visit NACo's website.
